FAQ

What is ceremonial cacao?

Ceremonial cacao is deeply rooted in ancient culture and spiritual ceremony thanks to its heart-opening properties. It is often used during meditation, intention setting, journalling, moon circles, shamanic healing practices and more. Ceremonial cacao is known to activate the mind, body and soul and serve as a gateway for personal and spiritual transformation.

For it to be considered ceremonial, it must be cultivated from its native habitat using sustainable, fair-trade, organic and traditional methods; and remain in its pure, raw and unadulterated form.

What are the benefits of cacao?

Aside from the spiritual benefits such as opening the heart and heightening spiritual awareness and connection, cacao is the highest source of iron on the planet. In addition, its packed full of antioxidants, magnesium, calcium and feel-good neuro-transmitters and modulators. It is the ultimate 'drink of the gods'!

Should I buy powdered or chopped?

Whilst both types of cacao come from the exact same plant and are grown and cultivated in the exact same conditions - the powder has an extra step of processing to achieve the consistency, which separates the natural butters from the cacao paste.
Whilst the powder still has incredible benefits, please opt for the chopped cacao solids if you want the most traditional and nutritious ceremonial form.

Is your cacao certified organic?

We purchase pure Peruvian cacao that is certified organic by ACO - the leading organic certification body of Australia. However, as we are not a certified supplier ourselves, we cannot claim that our product is certified organic. We can promise to you however, that the cacao is simply repackaged and completely unchanged - so you can feel totally assured of the quality and integrity.

How do I prepare the cacao?

To serve, simply simmer 1tbsp of cacao per cup of plant milk and mix with a stick blender or whisk. Cacao is naturally bitter so ensure to sweeten with honey, maple or agave to your liking. It can also be prepared with near-boiling water, for a milk-less alternative.
